A simple will saved this family from a costly legal hassle. We have clients, husband and wife. They have a single child. They came in and did wills. They weren’t necessarily expecting to use them very, very soon, but a few years later, one spouse died, and about three months later, the other spouse died. Luckily, their adult daughter was able to reach out to us. Because there were wills in place, we were able to quickly and easily open probate, there were no requirements of inventory returns, insurance bonds, so the process for her was fairly simple. There’s still some stuff that has to be done, but we are able to handle almost all of it, so there is a lot of waiting, but not as much requirement of doing. So she was able to inherit the house, just like she was supposed to, without legal hassle, or without undue legal hassle. This family planned, and that plan protected their daughter. It could have been much more expensive. It could have been much more prolonged. She might have had to sell the house to pay for the expenses of these two estates. But she didn’t. We were able to give them peace of mind, and then that peace of mind was able to be provided to their daughter, who now got exactly what she was supposed to get, with as little probate hassle as possible. If this is something that you would like to set up for your family, we would love to hear from you, and help you with that. Thanks.
