What is a will caveat?

What is a will caveat? Atlanta, Georgia estate planning and probate attorney Sarah Siedentopf shares the answer, in Siedentopf Law’s latest video.

Hi, I’m Atlanta estate planning and probate attorney Sarah Siedentopf. What is a will caveat? You may have heard of a will contest and understand what that means, but the term caveat is a little weird, a little unfamiliar. It’s special language from the Georgia Code and a will caveat is what you file when you are disputing a will. It is the same as a will dispute, a will contest. You would file a caveat in the probate court if you thought there was a problem with the will. So, a caveat is special lawyer-ese for a dispute. If you’ve got any questions about will caveats or will disputes, I’d be glad to talk to you about them. Thanks.
